LiPurposeFe is an independent studio that turns research on purpose into apps for ordinary moments, like where you get coffee or grab a taco.

People nominate coffee spots that matter to them, from a reliable cup to a café that quietly shapes how they think about their day. A shared view shows how each place sits between simple pleasure and something more.
A community map of taco spots built one nomination at a time, from something quick and satisfying to a place people keep coming back to for reasons beyond the food.

Purpose is not the same as pleasure.
Psychologists separate hedonic wellbeing, which is about comfort and pleasure, from eudaimonic wellbeing, which is about virtue and purpose. Our apps are built for the second kind, even when the subject is coffee or tacos.
Purpose grows from small, repeated choices.
Research on purpose describes its development less as a single revelation and more as a direction that forms gradually through consistent, everyday decisions.
Purpose may be more about when than what.
A sense of purpose may be fleeting. It may be just as important to notice when you feel purpose and when you don't, as it is to know what your purpose is.
Everyday choices sit somewhere between pleasure and purpose.
Every app we build starts from the same idea. Everyday choices sit somewhere between pleasure and purpose, and we think noticing where a moment falls is more interesting than scoring it. So we design for reflection, not a scoreboard. There is no leaderboard to climb, just a slightly clearer sense of your own day. We also plan to stay small. We would rather build two apps well than ten adequately, so LiPurposeFe will probably never be a big company. That is fine with us.
LiPurposeFe was started by a researcher who spent years studying how people build a sense of purpose, and wanted to see whether that research could live inside small, everyday apps. Most of what we know about purpose lives in academic papers that ordinary people never read. We wanted to take a few of those ideas and put them somewhere people already spend time, like deciding where to get coffee or which taco truck to trust, so the research could actually be useful and not just interesting.
On looking back at an old sense of direction you have since abandoned, and resisting the urge to call it a mistake.
